Sandy Eix has a BSc in Physics from Waterloo, a BEd from Queen’s, and an MSc and PhD in Physics from SFU. She has been inventing exhibits, programs, and shows at Science World for 29 years. Her job lets her play with all sorts of science and share her discoveries with kids of all ages. Some highlights so far have included developing exhibitions about fuel cells, pop music, and the art and science of light; running a summer camp for teachers; creating science resources for preschoolers; training science centre professionals in Turkey; and opening Science World’s Tinkering Space. When she’s not thinking about science education, she applies her curious mind to making strange things out of yarn, playing Cape Breton fiddle music, navigating Vancouver by electric bicycle, and learning to speak French. She has a university-student “kid”, a patient husband, and a bunch of pets.

Our programs give students the chance to think like scientists—asking questions, testing ideas, and working together to solve challenges. From Kindergarten through Grade 8, we focus on activities that build teamwork and connect science to the real world. For middle years (Grades 6–8), we’ll share ways to keep learners engaged with hands-on projects that encourage creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving—making science meaningful and fun.

Hands-on, Innovative and experiential learning are Jeff Fitton's passion areas. From Paintball to Prison; from Cops to the Courthouse, he seeks to provide learning experiences that will end up as dinner table conversations with family members. No longer will students answer the question "what did you learn today?" with "nuthin'." The ultimate compliment a student can pay their teacher is to choose to talk about the class at home with their family. That is Jeff's aim as he seeks to help student engage in meaningful, transformative learning experiences. He lives in Penticton BC with his family and leaves his job each day fulfilled and excited at the future possibilities of his students.
