The mission of the INLEAD program, as an integrated element of the IARS – COLD sub-committee, is to provide the IARS participating nations with a leadership course for Non-Commissioned officers, where they will be able to expand their leadership concepts through exposure to and discussion of leadership theory and practice as well as to foster interaction with other nations to better understand differing military cultures.

 

INLEAD will expose IARS NCO participants to an array of leadership tools, provide a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas within a multi-cultural environment. To stimulate discussion, students are exposed to the Host Nation’s military and societal culture, history, leadership techniques to include learning styles, the nation’s decision-making process and to provide a climate conducive to training that will enrich and benefit all partners’ interoperability and future mission success on the battlefield. Above all, it is to offer an insight into leadership training while enhancing the military experience of all those attending.

Chief Master Sergeant John G. Storms is the Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) for Headquarters, North Amercian Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado. NORAD conducts aerospace warning, aerospace control, and maritime warning in the defense of North America. USNORTHCOM partners to conduct homeland defense, civil support, and security coppoeration to defend and secure the United States and its interests.

Chief Storms is the principle advisor to the Commander on all personnel matters. His responsibilities include providing the Commander with the enlisted perspective on strategic vision, goals, objectives, theater security cooperation, and joint enlisted professional development. Additionally, he is responsible for mentoring Senior Leaders throughout the Component Commands and Joint Task Forces, as well as coordinating with Headquarters Staff Agenties, Commanders, and Senior Enlisted Personnel on matters pertaining to the command’s mission, vision, core values, commander’s intent, enlisted utlization, and implementation of headquarters policy.
Chief Storms joined the Air Force in June 1992, and graduated Security Specialist Technical Training at Lackland AFB, Texas. He has held numerous positions at squadron, group, wing, and MAJCOM levels.

Chief Master Sergeant Israel Nuñez is the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chief of Air Force Reserve, Pentagon, Washington D.C., and Command Chief Master Sergeant of Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. As the Senior Enlisted Advisor, Chief Nuñez represents the highest level of enlisted leadership in the United States Air Force Reserve. He provides direction to the enlisted force and represents the interest of more than 70,000 total force Airmen at all levels of government. As the Command Chief Master Sergeant of Air Force Reserve Command, Chief Nuñez is the principal advisor to the commander of Air Force Reserve Command. In this capacity, he is the commander's primary advisor regarding the welfare, morale, discipline, proper utilization, operational readiness, and war-fighting capability of enlisted U.S. Air Force Reserve personnel stationed worldwide.

Chief Nuñez entered the Air Force in 2000 and has an extensive background in executing and leading air transportation operations. A veteran of several deployments, Chief Nuñez has deployed to various locations in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, INHERENT RESOLVE, and FREEDOM'S SENTINEL.

CMSgt Laura A. Griswold is the Chief, Enlisted Force Development, Headquarters Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. In this role, she leads the strategic initiatives and focus areas that guide the deliberate professional development of enlisted Airmen throughout the Air Force Reserve. She is the primary advisor to senior leaders on matters concerning long-term development of the enlisted corps, ensuring the force is equipped with the essential skills, leadership qualities, and professional education necessary to excel in a multi-domain environment.

Chief Griswold entered the Air Force in April 2007 and completed the Information Management technical training course in August 2007. She initially served in the Regular Air Force before transitioning to the Air Force Reserve in 2013. Since then, she has held various positions at the wing, Major Command, and Headquarters Air Force levels. Prior to her current position, Chief Griswold was the Senior Enlisted Leader at the 459th Force Support Squadron, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland.

Guest Speaker: Preparing and Leading Special Operations NCOs

CMSgt Matthew F. Gregg is the Senior Enlisted Leader of the 315th Mission Support Group, Joint Base Charleston Air Base, South Carolina. He serves as the principal enlisted advisor to the Group Commander and six squadron commanders, guiding the utilization of over 700 personnel to maximize the Group's combat readiness, morale, health, and welfare. Chief provides leadership and management in organizing, equipping, and training assigned personnel in subordinate squadrons to support the Air Force Force Generation construct. Additionally, he recommends or initiates actions to improve organizational operation efficiency, resolving issues between subordinate squadrons, other groups, wing staff, and outside agencies.

CMSgt Gregg enlisted into the Air Force Reserve in February 2003 as an Air Transportation Apprentice. He completed Air Transportation Tech school in December 2003. In 2007 he transferred to the Army Reserve when the 84th Aerial Port Squadron was decommissioned. CMSgt Gregg served in the Army Reserve for 4 years, holding multiple positions and four Military Occupation Specialty codes including Supply and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Reconnaissance. In 2011, CMSgt Gregg separated from the Army Reserve and reenlisted in the Air Force Reserve in t the 38th APS at Joint Base Charleston Air Base. Prior to his current position, he was the Senior Enlisted Leader at the 25th APS, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.

The Chief has deployed in support Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, NOBLE EAGLE and INHERENT RESOLVE. Pursuing his passion for coaching and development, Chief Gregg is a facilitator for the Triad, NATO INLEAD, AFRC Leader Today, Tomorrow, and AFRC Stress Inoculation classes. In 2022 CMSgt Gregg formed the Noncommissioned Officer Leadership Development Summit which delivers targeted growth and development for Air Force Reserve Command leaders transitioning from tactical to strategic leadership positions. To date, more than 70 Airmen from across Air Force Reserve Command have attended his events.
