Global Radiology CME is pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. med. Reto Sutter as faculty for Imaging in Switzerland 2027. An internationally recognized expert in musculoskeletal radiology, Dr. Sutter serves as Chief of Radiology at Balgrist University Hospital and Professor of Musculoskeletal Radiology at the University of Zurich, where he combines clinical excellence with innovative research in advanced musculoskeletal imaging.
Following his medical degree from the University of Zurich, Dr. Sutter completed radiology and pathology training at University Hospital Zurich, Kantonsspital Winterthur, and The Royal London Hospital in the United Kingdom. He subsequently completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at Balgrist University Hospital before joining the faculty, ultimately becoming Chief of Radiology and a member of the hospital's executive board.
Dr. Sutter is internationally recognized for his expertise in advanced MRI and CT techniques, including high-field and ultra-high-field MRI, sports imaging, spine disorders, inflammatory musculoskeletal disease, postoperative imaging, and imaging of hip pathology. His research has helped advance techniques that improve diagnostic accuracy while reducing imaging artifacts around orthopedic implants.
An accomplished educator and researcher, Dr. Sutter has authored hundreds of peer-reviewed scientific publications, serves as the medical lead for the Swiss Center for Musculoskeletal Imaging (SCMI), and was appointed Course Director for Musculoskeletal Radiology for the internationally renowned International Diagnostic Course Davos (IDKD) in 2026. In recognition of his contributions to musculoskeletal imaging, he received the President's Medal of the International Skeletal Society in 2018.
