This training will provide foster parents, caseworkers, and program staff with the opportunity to learn about how to respond to the presentation of sexualized behaviors. This workshop will cover the differences between normal versus abnormal sexual behaviors and how to identify when intervention is needed. It will also focus on the causes of sexually problematic behavior in youth as well as why these behaviors are often common with children in substitute care settings. Additional information will be discussed regarding the treatment of youth that present with sexual behavior problems in an effort to understand what to expect for treatment (including the foster parent’s role). This information will provide knowledge for foster parents, caseworkers, and program staff on how to successfully implement a supervision plan, what to do if an incident occurs, the foster parent's role, the caseworker’s role, and reporting procedures.
