October 23 - 34 weekend trip to Horseshoe Canyon Ranch, about 4.5 hours away in Arkansas. We will climb all day Saturday and Sunday. We expect most folks to stay overnight on Friday and Saturday night. All Rox youth climbers are invited.
HCR is an amazing crag with over 600 routes. The rock is southern sandstone, similar to Jamestown, but the routes are longer, more exposed, more dramatic, and more varied.
Families are responsible for their own transportation and lodging at the crag. HCR has a nice, super convenient campground, We hope families will team up to share carpooling and chaperoning duties.
For details about climbing at HCR with MOCS, see our HCR page here.
MOCS is a non-profit, and one of our core principles is that everyone should just pay what they can. The full cost for MOCS to guide a single kid at HCR for the weekend is $150, including HCR fees, guide wages, insurance, and climber and guide equipment. If you can't afford the cost, you can use one of the following discount codes during the checkout process:
paynothing
payhalf
If you can afford to help others climb with us, you can select one of the the 'Help Another Climber' addons to help us fund climbers who can't afford the cost.
This trip is open to any kid in the Rox youth programs, including the school club program, the comp team, or the rec team. The trip is initially limited to 12 kids, but we may be able to add more slots (by recruiting more guides) if there is more interest.
