This trip is for folks who are leading in the gym and want to transition to leading outdoors independently. We will cover the movement, technical, and planning skills needed to enjoy outdoor sport climbing while minimizing risk. Topics include movement skills, gear, knots, anchor building, anchor cleaning, trip planning, and evaluation of safety systems. Students should be comfortable leading in the gym before the course starts.
The course will consist of 1 session in the gym during October and then 2 days at Jamestown Crag in Arkansas on 11/1 and 11/2. The gym sessions will be offered from 6-8 at High Point Memphis on 10/27 on and at Memphis Rox on 10/29 (participants should come to one of these gym sessions).
The Jamestown trip will be on 11/1 and 11/2. We will meet in the Jamestown parking lot at 9am and be done around 4pm.
