Presenter Bio:
Kathleen McConnell CIPP/US & CIPP/E: Kathleen McConnell is a partner in Seyfarth’s San Francisco office. She has significant experience counseling companies regarding data protection, information security, analytics, and AI. Her areas of privacy expertise include domestic state level privacy and compliance work (including CCPA/CPRA); international cross-border privacy and compliance; information governance and record retention; website and software terms of use, policies, disclosures, operations, and privacy compliance; eDiscovery and eDisclosure privacy compliance and best practices; and cross-border preservation, collection, transfer, and production.
In addition to her privacy practice, Kathleen co-chairs the firm’s Data Science team, spearheading Seyfarth’s use of data analytics in litigation and counseling matters which has contributed to keeping Seyfarth on the cutting edge of the legal practice. Her innovative work in this area has enabled the firm to obtain favorable settlements for clients and reduce significant areas of potential liability.
Kathleen is a member of the firm’s AI Task Force and Global Privacy & Security Team and holds two certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals - Certified Information Privacy Professional / United States and Certified Information Privacy Professional / Europe.
Kathleen has presented and published on numerous analytics, data protection, cross-border privacy, eDiscovery, and information governance topics including: the future of analytical strategies; using data analysis to find hidden information; the effect of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence on eDiscovery; GDPR compliance; and cross-border discovery.
Jaime Raba: Jaime Raba is a partner at Seyfarth Shaw LLP, where he specializes in the intersection of complex data and the law. His expertise covers trials, motions, compliance, counseling, internal investigations, discovery, corporate transactions, and intricate negotiations. As a technologist, Jaime uses programming, data science, information security, and proficiency with various computer systems to develop legal strategies, make critical decisions, and uncover key evidence within electronically stored information. Jaime is renowned for his innovative application of technology in legal contexts, enhancing the understanding of complex issues and providing immediate insights. His work with AI involves large language models, creating predictive models, conducting data simulations, and performing advanced analytics.
