 Game Programming Workshop

Let us teach your child how to program! We use a highly effective programming language called “SCRATCH” (developed by MIT) to teach your child how to code, as they create fun games and animated projects. As a grand finale, we will invite parents to watch their child’s creations on the big screen!

The Game Programming Workshop provides an introduction to creative computing with Scratch, using a design-based learning approach. The activities in this course are designed to explore computational thinking concepts (sequence, loops, parallelism, events, conditionals, operators, data), practices (working iteratively and incrementally, testing and debugging, reusing and remixing, abstracting and modularizing), and perspectives (expressing, connecting, questioning).

Design-based learning is an approach that emphasizes designing (creating things, not just using or interacting with things), personalizing (creating things that are personally meaningful and relevant), collaborating (working with others on creations), and reflecting (reviewing and rethinking one’s creative practices). As such, a design-based approach to learning is particularly well suited to creative computing, and forms the basis for the design of each session.

Welcome to the SCIENCE PLAYHOUSE! The first local, hands-on science lab and technology enrichment program in the Colorado Springs and Monument area. The Science Playhouse is a provider of some amazing STEM enrichment programs! STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. We teach science, programming, robotics and other cool topics to elementary and middle school students. Our goal is to show your children how exciting and fun STEM is! Your child will design, build, mix, program, experiment and feel like a scientist for a day! We look forward to sharing the excitement of STEM with your child. Please join our enrichment programs after school, in the evening, or in a holiday camp. We make STEM exciting, interesting, but most importantly, FUN for kids!
