This course will discuss the very real health threat of radon to all homeowners, and how Realtors should discuss it with clients. The course covers the documented history of radon and related illness from the 14th century to present day times. Students will learn where and why radon levels vary from one part of the country to another. The epidemiologically-proven health effects and related statistics will be featured in the class. Students will learn some of the science of radon, testing protocol and devices. Students will also learn about the way in which radon enters buildings and how to remediate buildings with elevated levels. Students will leave the class armed with the information to properly guide and reassure clients who are confronted with radon issues in buildings they intend to buy.
