CODE313 is partnering with the AI Education Project (aiEDU), Broadcom Foundation and TIES to host the Educator’s STEAM Summit on AI Education. We aim to seize on the growing conversation and attention on the ways that AI is rapidly transforming education and our lives in order to galvanize a coalition of education leaders and ecosystem partners from across the Metropolitan Detroit Area to take a lead on bridging the AI education gap. 

This full-day summit will convene district superintendents, administrators, non-profit leaders, and other stakeholders to build understanding and leadership around AI education. The summit will feature an overview of the growing imperative for AI education, two expert panels (on AI ethics and policy landscapes), facilitated regional breakout discussions, Q&A with panelists, and closing remarks focused on concrete next steps.

Our workshops provide hands-on instruction by volunteers from the Detroit developer community inspired to share their passion. Marc Spight Jr. is an honor student and sophomore at Frederick Douglass High School who is dedicated to both academic excellence and personal growth. He is an active participant in The Yunion’s Level Up program and a member of Code313, where he continues to develop his skills in technology and leadership. Marc Jr. is also a dual enrollment student at Wayne County Community College District, demonstrating his commitment to advancing his education early. Beyond the classroom, he is a talented drummer, basketball player, musical producer, and martial artist who brings discipline, creativity, and determination to everything he does. Through his academic achievements and diverse talents, Marc Jr. represents the next generation of young leaders striving to make a positive impact in their community.

As a student at the Apple Developer Academy in Detroit, he works at the intersection of creativity and technology, building tools that help businesses grow in the digital age. Ben works with companies across Southeast Michigan to develop data-driven digital strategies, websites, and marketing systems. His work combines coding, design, and AI tools to solve real-world problems. Through his experience developing apps and marketing technology, Ben explores how emerging technologies like artificial intelligence are reshaping the creative process, the future of work, and the ways people build and share ideas. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors and exploring with his dog.
