Join "Image Doctors" Rick Walker and Jason Odell in Portland, Oregon for an infrared photography workshop. In this class, we will cover the fundamentals of infrared photography, including post-processing with Lightroom and Photoshop. We will have an infrared photography session at the Portland Japanese Gardens, followed by classroom time to work on your images on your computer. 

Class Schedule

Thursday, May 13

• 7-9pm: Orientation and fundamentals of digital infrared capture

Friday, May 14

• 10am-Noon: Infrared photo shoot at the Portland Japanese Gardens
• 1:30-4pm: Infrared image processing class

You will learn

• Setting proper white balance on infrared images (in-camera and in Lightroom)
• Adjusting infrared images from color and standard cameras (590-720nm)
• How to correct hot-spots in infrared images
• Creating the "blue-sky" effect in infrared images
• Converting infrared images to monochrome
• Colorizing infrared images
• Using plug-ins for creative impact

• Transportation to the Japanese Gardens
• Optional Tripod Permit ($10)
• Infrared camera (We recommend a converted camera from LifePixel or Kolari Vision)
• Computer with image processing software (we use Lightroom Classic and Photoshop)

About Your Instructors

Jason Odell & Rick Walker are photographers in Colorado, USA. They are the hosts of The Image Doctors Photography Podcast, and have been leading photography workshops and tours since 2007. Rick and Jason both specialize in outdoor and landscape photography. Rick and Jason have over 80 years of combined photography experience with both film and digital cameras.
