Precourse (to be completed asynchronously in advance of your in-person training)

The completion of this pre-course is essential before attending your Digging Roots training as it sets the stage through a baseline of what we will use advanced skills on. Within these training videos, there are eight assignments that must be completed before attending your in-person Digging Roots training.

These assignments will be fundamental in setting yourselves up for successful, and highly focused dyads. Failure to complete your assignments in advance will not only impact the experience of your training partner(s), but also your personal training experience.

  • DT Misdiagnosed ODD, ADHD, GAD or just HURT, Research says…..
  • Learn more about the Developmental Trauma Disorder proposed diagnosis
  • Receive a new pathway to Going For the Roots to help clients achieve deeper emotional access
  • Explore the concept of the 24-hour flashback through heart rate variation test

Day One: Examining the Dual Attunement Frame in Developmental Trauma

Learning Objectives:
  • Dialing in on Dysregulation
  • Friending Defensive Structures
  • Common Brainspotting Responses from DT
  • Trenching: Narrowing down to Precise Activation Access

Day Two: Healing Internalized Childhood Capsules

Learning Objectives:
  • Re-Examining Parts work
  • Clean Language
  • 2 Demonstrations and 2 Practicums

Day Three: Healing the Child Within

Learning Objectives:
  • Healing Key Childhood Moments
  • Adoption and Relinquishment Strategies
  • Strategic Re-Integrating Survivors for lasting result

Steve Sawyer LCSW CSAC Dynamic Interventions LLC Owner, Co-Founder of Developmental Trauma Training Institute Brainspotting International Senior Trainer Heartmath Interventions & Resilent Heart Programs Co-Author Wellbriety Mending Broken Hearts Trainer Steve is a dual licensed psychotherapist filled with passion and knowledge surrounding the intervention and change process. His experience comes from two decades of intervention with tough to reach client populations in therapy settings ranging from residential, community based, outpatient and wilderness therapy. He is a trained trainer of several unique therapeutic models including Brainspotting, and HeartMath. Steve co-founded New Vision Wilderness Therapy programs with a trauma informed and clinical focus with 3 locations spanning the country. He continues to work as a core therapeutic training development staff with the Institute of HeartMath receiving their Humanitarian Heart award in 2018 and he is a leading active International Brainspotting trainer. Along with his training of Phase 1 and 2, he developed the Developmental Trauma Focused Model of Brainspotting. Steve’s Native focused work is as a Wellbriety Mending Broken Hearts trainer and Generation Red Road facilitator. Steve spends time amongst trauma focused treatment master’s like Gabor Mate and Bessel Van Der Kolk. Steve’s trainings are recognized nationwide for cutting edge therapeutic techniques, science, and inspiration.
