Students are often told they must wait until some unknown time to start making changes in the world. Yet with the right tools and resources, students can and are already leading lasting change in their communities. Design for Change USA (DFC) fosters student agency by recognizing the potential in each child, to be a designer of change. Additionally, young people participating in Design for Change intentionally link their projects to the 17 Global Goals.

Join us on February 11th at Dallas Afterschool to learn more about how Design for Change can enhance learning and leadership in your programs!

In this free informational event, attendees will:

1) Receive a brief intro to design thinking + global goals, and their application in youth programs.

2) Learn and explore Design for Change's design thinking methodologies and resources for educators.

3) Experience examples of Design for Change curriculum firsthand.

4) Receive support & feedback with designing an implementation plan for your program.

Agenda:

9:30-10:30am: Introduction to Design for Change & the Global Goals

10:30-12:00pm: Design for Change curriculum workshop (experience activities from our design sprints & community projects)

12:00-1:00pm: Lunch (on your own- attendees can bring their lunches or drive to nearby locations)

Monica Armendariz is an education consultant and the Texas champion for Design for Change USA. Design for Change USA is the national chapter of Design for Change World, a global movement of young people creating positive impact in their community. We use a simple design thinking framework (Feel, Imagine, Do, Share) to empower students to design and implement social change projects in their community, fostering an I CAN mindset. When students participate in DFC, they join a coalition of young people around the world saying, I CAN! Change is possible and they can drive it.
