For those who work in an environment where there is potential for violence, it is important to develop the skills needed to defuse dangerous situations. This workshop is designed to teach people to de-escalate potentially violent situations through assertiveness and interpersonal communication. The training will explore how anger and violence interplay, including opportunities for self-assessment of personal communication styles. Participants will develop a clear understanding of how to assess the potential for violence and respond with a diverse set of interpersonal tools and strategies designed to defuse potentially violent situations.

Lunch: Boxed lunch will be provided for in person classes. This will consist of a sandwich, chips, cookie and a beverage. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options are available. Please indicate your needs on the registration form. If you have allergies or other dietary requirements not listed in the options above, please indicate this on the registration form and  someone will contact you for more information. Note that we cannot make additions/changes to lunch orders, please choose carefully on the registration form.

Schedule: Classes are scheduled from 8:30 to 4:30. There will be a 2-hour lunch break from 11:30 to 1:30. You are expected to attend all 6 hours of class content and actively participate.
