CIT is an organizational, community intervention involving changes in police procedures and collaboration with mental health providers and community stakeholders. Officers volunteer for 40 hours of training provided by mental health clinicians, consumer and family advocates, and police trainers. Training includes information on signs and symptoms of mental illness, mental health treatment, co-occurring disorders, legal issues, and de-escalation techniques.

The training will take place April 27-May 1, 20256 at the Amy Levin Center in Lorain, OH from 8:00-4:00. Lunch will be provided.

Registration is first come first serve (max 3 per department), but preference is given to sworn law enforcement. The class size is 24, which is considered best practice for this particular training. A waitlist will be kept for anyone that signs up after the 24-person class limit.
