The SLAC welcomes Darrell Knapp, FSA, MAAA to disuss the process for the creation of an Actuarial Standard, from idea generation, development and review, to the final standard. Examples from recently developed standards will help us become familiar with the issues that drive the creation of a standard, the care and effort that goes into their creation, and how we can best influence standards with issues or concerns we have.
Darrell Knapp is an Executive Director with Ernst & Young and leads their health actuarial practice. He has been involved in a wide variety of engagements for managed care and health insurance organizations, many of which focus on financial reporting and surplus requirements. Darrell is a member of the Actuarial Standards Board and is on the faculty of the American Academy of Actuaries Life and Health Qualifications Seminar. Darrell has also served in a number of other roles including American Academy of Actuaries Board of Directors, chair of the American Academy of Actuaries Health Practice Financial Reporting Committee, Society of Actuaries Nominating Committee and general chairperson of the Society of Actuaries Education and Examination Committee.
Darrell has frequently presented at SOA meetings and other industry events and has authored a number of articles as well as being a contributing author to Group Insurance.
