This film examines how American mothers have been divided by culture-war narratives and unrealistic expectations, arguing that the real crisis is a lack of structural support for caregiving, childcare, work, and family life in the United States.
Join Moms First founder Reshma Saujani and local leaders for a screening of a documentary about what motherhood really looks like in America today.
This isn’t just about watching a film—it’s about being in a room where we can say things out loud that we’ve been carrying quietly, and realize we’re not alone.
Following the screening, Jennifer Stybel will moderate a discussion with Reshma Saujani, Nicole Asselta (Executive Director of the Parent Resource Center), and Jessica Melwani.

Biographies of Panel Members:
Reshma Saujani is a leading activist, the founder of Girls Who Code, the founder and CEO of Moms First, and executive producer of the new documentary No Country for Mothers. Named one of TIME’s Women of the Year in 2026, Reshma has spent more than a decade building movements to fight for women and girls’ economic empowerment, to close the gender gap in tech, and most recently, for the structural changes moms deserve including affordable child care, paid leave, and equal pay. She is a New York Times Bestselling author of several books including PAY UP, Brave, Not Perfect, and the Girls Who Code book series. As a leading voice on women’s empowerment, her 2023 Smith College Commencement speech on imposter syndrome has more than 18 million views, and her influential TED talk, “Teach girls bravery, not perfection,” has more than 54 million views globally. Reshma began her career as an attorney and Democratic organizer. In 2010, she surged onto the political scene as the first Indian American woman to run for U.S. Congress. Reshma lives in New York City with her husband, Nihal; their sons, Shaan and Sai; and their dog Steve.
Jennifer Stybel is an entrepreneurial leader at the intersection of innovation and social impact, with deep expertise in the care economy. Jennifer serves as Director of Program Strategy for Caregiving at Pivotal, a group of social impact organizations founded by Melinda French Gates to accelerate the pace of social progress for women and young people. Jennifer’s portfolio of impact partners seeks to make caregiving more affordable for families in the U.S. by unlocking a once-in-a-generation level of investment into the care economy—to scale affordable innovations and make care a public good.
Jennifer previously served as Executive Director of Rent the Runway Foundation and Project Entrepreneur focused on leveling the playing field for female founders. She has held leadership roles in tech and mission-driven organizations, and advises early stage founders and investors. She holds a BA from Georgetown University and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, and is proud to call Port Washington home.
Nicole D. Asselta, LCSW, RYT, RCYT is the Executive Director of the Parent Resource Center (PRC) in Port Washington, where she leads the organization's administration, programming, community outreach, and strategic planning. Passionate about strengthening families and building connected communities, Nicole has dedicated more than 20 years to the PRC, first serving as a board member, then as a Head Teacher of the Stepping Stones preschool readiness program and the facilitator of the Mothers of Infants Support Group. Throughout her career, Nicole has been committed to ensuring that families have access to the resources, education, and support they need to thrive. She believes deeply in the lifelong impact of investing in early childhood and in the power of strong parent-child relationships and supportive communities to shape healthy, resilient families. Nicole earned her Master of Social Work from Hunter College and holds a Certificate in Bioethics and Medical Humanities from New York University. She also earned a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Molloy University and is both a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) and Registered Children's Yoga Teacher (RCYT), having completed her training through Yoga Polarity in Malverne, New York. As both a clinician and nonprofit director, Nicole brings a unique perspective to conversations about motherhood, parenting, and community, combining professional expertise with a deep commitment to empowering parents and helping families flourish.
