DESCRIPTION:
Learn to fly and or base in contact Improvisation. Advance lifts will be taught. However, several pre-stages to each lift will also be taught and there is no expectation that students need to arrive at doing the lift if they are not ready.  Also, people can choose to practice either basing or fly or decide to do both roles. Application and integration into jamming will be explored with the hope that the material learned can show up in improvised dances.

LEVEL: You must be a mover who is at least starting to be comfortable being upside down.

VIDEOS: Class learning will be supported by tutorial video that will be available to the students.

$90 For both dates
$60 for one workshop

TEACHERS BIOGRAPHY:
Kathleen life’s course changed 21 years ago when she fell in love with contact improvisation and has devoted her career to this dance form ever since. She has choreographed over 50 dance-works and been nominated for 7 DORAs. Kathleen has autism and a learning disability that results in writing taking 8 times longer than average. It is a surprise and mystery for her that despite these struggles she developed a love of writing and is a published author (“The Healing Dance”). She has a master’s degree in Expressive Arts and has a passion for functional movement through her study of the Axis Syllabus. She is the director of REAson d’etre dance production, producing dance jams, film festivals, and productions.
