Description

The webinar will provide guidance to employers for compliance with the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. Federal law requires that each occupationally exposed employee complete Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP) training annually. OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens Standard, 29 CFR 1910.1030 applies to all persons who may reasonably anticipate contact with blood or Other Potentially Infectious Materials (OPIMs) in the course of their employment. This 60-minute webinar will describe and explain the steps required to establish and put in place a Bloodborne Pathogen program that is in compliance with OSHA's requirements.

The topics will cover determination of employee exposure, the exposure control plan, engineering controls and personal protective equipment, work practices, waste disposal, Hepatitis B vaccination, post-exposure procedures, employee training, and recordkeeping requirements.

Employers, whether they be health care institutions, educational institutions or retail facilities, need to be prepared to one degree or another for dealing with exposure to potentially hazardous bodily fluids, especially blood.

This session will provide an overview of the types of situations that can cause exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens, as well as means of protecting and training workers who may be exposed.
