Full Spectrum Capital 101: Once we recognize that sufficient capital exists, and the key issue is activating investors and aggregating capital, the next step is to shift our mindset. Our focus is on shifting power to the community and the environment. This shift requires us to ask: What does the housing project, business, or nonprofit need? Instead of focusing on the standard rate of return investors expect, we must reverse engineer the capital stack to meet the needs of both capital stewards and community stewards, providing them with the full spectrum of capital they require.

Financial Innovation and Impact Investing 101: The journey continues with sourcing your first investments. A critical component of this is offering a top-tier financial innovation and impact investing workshop for community leaders and nonprofits. We will start with an opportunity scan focused on nonprofits, bringing full spectrum capital concepts into practical reality through local case studies.

Regional Phone Book and Intermediary Scan: As investments begin to take root in your community, the question arises: Who are the intermediaries, accountants, and professional service providers that will support these transactions? This leads us to the creation of a regional phone book. For example, in Colorado, we've partnered with the Denver Business Journal to compile a list of leaders in impact investing. Additionally, the Impact Finance Center is collaborating with national and regional intermediaries to develop a national intermediary impact investing landscape scan, offering a directory of leaders who can work with your local intermediaries to build the necessary infrastructure for your strategies.

Opportunity Scan: While opportunity scans can be conducted for various sectors (nonprofits, for-profits, housing, etc.), we recommend starting with an opportunity scan focused on donor or grant-making efforts. This approach aims to bring together impact-first and finance-first individuals for a common first step. The goal is to build confidence and competence, particularly among those who do not identify as investors. By initially focusing on where individuals and organizations are already allocating their most precious resources—capital with a 0% financial return—we can strategically provide them with the impact investments needed to enhance their impact.

Investor Accelerator and Capital Aggregator: With the basic building blocks of your strategic plan in place, the next focus is on identifying, educating, and activating investors, and then providing a simplified investment process through capital aggregation. When activated, most investors are eager to engage in a social venture marketplace and make a few investments. Some will continue to build a portfolio of direct investments, while others will pool their capital with peers. Many are looking for a simplified approach that allows them to invest in the entire system with one or two investments.

The Investor Accelerator begins with identifying 3 to 9 peer investors, sharing their stories through podcasts and case studies, and providing additional investor training where these investors actively participate. This process is repeated to activate new investors continuously. The capital aggregation process offers an "easy button" in the form of a 5-8% equity product, a 2-4% debt product, and a private guarantee product that can be white-labeled and supported by safety net products such as guarantees, enabling investors to invest at scale in their community.
