Blue Ridge Community College is located between Staunton and Harrisonburg. While the CCA doesn't have a hotel room block, we do have some suggestions of nearby lodging.

There is ample parking in the parking garage across the street from the Plecker Workforce Center (Parking Garage 1 on the map linked above). 

Cancellation policy

Cancellations must be requested by 5 p.m. five business days before the event begins. Once processed, the registration amount less the processing fees will be refunded.

Rochelle Reed is the social media manager at James Madison University, where she works with students and campus partners to elevate JMU stories and connect with the JMU community.  Rochelle is a proud alum of JMU and is honored to steward the growth of JMU's social media presence. With a decade of social media experience, mostly in higher education, Rochelle leads a community of practice for social media at JMU and provides guidance and support to campus partners across campus. Her experience as a certified community manager allows her to navigate the flexible and dynamic landscape of social media and community management while ensuring JMU’s online communities thrive and grow.

Carrie Wood is a marketing and communications leader with a passion for elevating brand reputation and strengthening engagement. As Director of Marketing and Communications at the JMU College of Business, she develops strategies that enhance visibility, support student recruitment, amplify faculty expertise, and contribute to fundraising efforts. She manages a small team to oversee digital and print communications, and leads marketing efforts including web content, design, photography, and video. Collaboration is central to her work, as she partners with departments, schools and centers that fall under the CoB purview across social media channels to deliver clear, consistent, and impactful content.

Additionally, Laura manages and provides social media strategy for the Vice President for Student Affairs social media and the Health and Well-being division’s social media. Her expertise and passions span social media marketing and content creation, content writing, email marketing, event marketing and digital marketing. She is dedicated to empowering Student Affairs partners through strategic, collaborative marketing that strengthens connection, elevates student experiences, and supports the broader JMU community.

Carleigh is the assistant director for Student Affairs Communications and Marketing at JMU, where she provides art direction and supervision for professional and student creatives. Her department partners with those within Student Affairs (and beyond!) to elevate their programs and services. Carleigh enjoys problem-solving and building connections with students and professionals. She thrives on developing her team creatively, technically, professionally, and personally. Prior to coming to work at her alma mater (she’s a proud JMU Graphic Design alum!), Carleigh taught high school art and design for nine years, where she nurtured both her love for guiding creatives and developing others.

Derrick loves walking the divide between technical thinking and creative expression in his work. Prior to joining the SACM team at JMU, Derrick held a similar position at Eastern Mennonite University. He also does freelance photography and videography, particularly soccer and local music.

Nick Anderson is executive director of strategic communications for the American Council on Education. He oversees comprehensive efforts to engage colleges and universities on a broad range of issues through direct outreach to their leaders and other stakeholders. He is also responsible for designing plans to tackle some of the most significant short- and long-term challenges facing higher education. Among these projects is a campaign to raise public confidence in higher education called #HigherEdBuildsAmerica.

Before joining ACE in 2024, Anderson covered education for many years for The Washington Post. In that role, he specialized in identifying higher education trends and forging connections with students, parents, faculty, institutional leaders, and federal and state policymakers. He tracked public perceptions of the value of college and pursued stories on topics such as college admissions, affirmative action, and campus sexual assault.

Among his interests are the technological revolution in education, the national and global markets, the endless battle to overcome inequities of opportunity, and the sheer intellectual fun of academic life. His work won an Education Writers Association National Award for Education Reporting in 2016 for beat reporting.

Anderson also held editing roles at The Washington Post, including education editor. In 2007, he participated in coverage of the Virginia Tech shooting. The Post's reporting on that tragedy won a Pulitzer Prize. Previously, he was a political and congressional writer in the Washington bureau of the Los Angeles Times. He also worked for The Associated Press; The Mercury News in San Jose, California; and the Palo Alto Weekly. Anderson lives with his wife, Esther Schrader, in Montgomery County, Md., where their three kids.
