How do you communicate effectively in a business meeting? Participants will work through several meeting situations, practicing the following skills: leading the meeting, suggesting and responding, agreeing, disagreeing, persuading, and reaching decisions.

 

 

 

Who the workshop is for?

 

This workshop is for professionals and business students who aim to participate more effectively in English-language business meetings. A High Intermediate (B2) level is required.

 

 

 

What makes this workshop different? Personalised feedback!

 

The workshop consists of three parts. In the first 90-minute session participants will work on effective communication in business meeting – persuading, leading the meeting, formality and informality, etc. After the break, participants will practice in small groups, focusing on different areas, with feedback after each task. In the last part participants will role play a meeting in small groups. These 15- minute meeting simulations will be audio-recorded and assessed. At the end, all participants will receive personalised feedback for their performance.

 

 

 

Who are your trainers?

 

Theresa Gorman is from Austin, U.S.A. She holds a Trinity Diploma TESOL and is currently writing her Master's dissertation on the assessment of business communication skills.  She started her English teaching career in Sarajevo and has taught Business and General English for more than 10 years.  Theresa has lived and worked in Germany since 2011, where she works as a lecturer at two technical universities giving Business English courses.

 

 

 

Paul Walsh is a teacher and writer from the UK and has taught Business English in Germany for over 4 years. He blogs at decentralisedteachingandlearning.com and has published articles in Hybrid Pedagogy, English Teaching Professional and EL Gazette.
