In the lead up to Trimester 3, HADU is offering a series of Bb Collaborate workshops.

Blackboard Collaborate is a live online classroom environment, integrated within CloudDeakin. This session is targeted to users who wish to explore the use of Breakout Groups. This 1-hour hands-on session is facilitated by an instructor in real-time, using the Bb Collaborate environment.

By completing this session, staff should be able to:

·       Use Bb Collaborate to support teaching and learning

·       Apply basic tools of Bb Collaborate including audio/video facilitation, instant messaging, annotating the whiteboard, and application and file sharing.

·       Create breakout groups.

·       Explore groupwork in breakout groups.

·       Participate in breakout groups.

A facilitator will be in the session 15 mins prior to the start of the session.

Before the session

·       You will require a computer with an internet connection, a microphone USB headset to speak and listen. A webcam is not essential but is highly recommended.

·       In order to participate in a Bb Collaborate session, you will need to ensure your computer and other hardware are set up correctly. It is highly recommended you follow the instructions for first-time users.

·       Google Chrome is the preferred browser  and provides the best experience using Blackboard Collaborate. Please ensure you have the latest version of Chrome installed.

·       Blackboard Collaborate is entirely web-based – there is no software to install.

To access a session, please enter the Blackboard Collaborate ULTRA Rooms for Training (Training Room 1) in the Faculty of Health staff CloudDeakin site at least 5 minutes prior to the start of the session. (This is located in the Resources section.)
