The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services will be holding an EDS Training Day in the Beaver County area(Aliquippa Corps) on Monday, August 19th from 9:00am - 5:00pm. The Local Community Responder Program will be held during the Morning session, and the afternoon session will feature the ServSafe - Food Handler training and Certification. This course is free for all Salvation Army Members.
Structure Fires, Swat Call Outs, Search & Rescues, Floodings, Tornados, or other Man-Made/Natural Disasters are just examples of some of the things that we respond to, but in order to do that, we need people like you that want to help. The Local Emergency Responder training program is designed to give you an understanding of what The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services(EDS) is, what we do, and how you can get involved within your community. It's also designed as a Training to teach you how we work side by side with Local, State, and Federal Public safety Agencies and what we do on a Local response Level. As Salvation Army Officers, Soldiers, Adherents or Volunteers, you may be requested to assist with feeding in local feeding programs, day camps, disaster situations, or any corps programming that may require food preparation. If you plan on assisting in preparing meals within your corps, or on a Local, State, or National disaster, then this training program IS A MUST HAVE, in fact it's A REQUIREMENT!ServSafe is administered by the National Restaurant Association. We understand the importance of our program in teaching and certifying responsible food service measures. We stay on top of the various and changing regulatory requirements for every state and ensure that our certification will meet any food handler training need. The ServSafe Food Safety Training program leads the way in providing current and comprehensive educational materials to the restaurant industry. More than 4 million food service professionals have been certified through the ServSafe Certification Exam, which is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Conference for Food Protection (CFP). ServSafe training and certification is recognized by more federal, state, and local jurisdictions than any other food safety certification.
The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services responds to emergency incidents all throughout the western 28 counties of the state of Pennsylvania. Emergency Disaster Services is a division of The Salvation Army that provides services to support the basic needs of those who are affected by disasters.
