AUCC Coaching Excellence Session

Coaching the Person:
"Why Good Leaders Burn Out - and Others Lose Trust"

Many leaders struggle with balance — some find it difficult to say no, take on too much, and quietly compromise their own time, recognition, and well-being. Others go to the opposite extreme — they protect their own priorities strongly, but in the process appear self-focused and lose trust.

Harrison Assessment’s Equity Mindset helps us understand this balance. Leaders with a high tendency to be helpful often develop porous boundaries. They hesitate to delegate, and in many cases, work flows upward instead of downward. Over time, they become overloaded, while their teams remain underdeveloped.

On the other hand, leaders with rigid boundaries may assert their own needs clearly but fail to support others. While they may appear decisive, they often struggle to build trust and strong followership.

Using Harrison Assessments, we will explore how these patterns form, how they affect leadership effectiveness, and how we as coaches can help leaders build healthier boundaries - where they can support others without self-sacrifice, and remain firm without losing connection.

Who should join?

  • Coaches who see leaders struggling with saying no, delegation, and overload
  • Coaches working with leaders who are either over-accommodating or perceived as self-oriented
  • PCC/ACC coaches who want to deepen their coaching using behavioral insights
  • Coaches interested in understanding how boundaries influence leadership effectivenes

Joining us for this session, you will:

  • Learn how to identify self-sacrificing and self-protective leadership patterns
  • Understand why some leaders struggle to delegate while others fail to build trust
  • Gain practical ways to coach leaders toward healthier boundaries
  • Strengthen your ability to coach the person, not just the problem
