AUCC Coaching Excellence Session
Coaching the Person:
"Opportunity Mindset - Balancing Risks and Analyzing Pitfalls"
In this session, we will explore another powerful Harrison Paradox as part of our series on ‘Coaching the Person’.
Opportunity Mindset – balancing Risking and Analyzing Pitfalls
In simple terms:
- Risking is the willingness to act under uncertainty
- Analyzing Pitfalls is the ability to think through what could go wrong and plan for it
When this balance is off, leaders tend to fall into familiar patterns:
- Low Risking – driven by fear of failure, concern about how they will be perceived, and hesitation to take bold decisions
- Over-analysis – spending too much time evaluating what could go wrong, leading to delays or missed opportunities
- On the other hand, high risking without enough analysis can lead to poor judgment and avoidable mistakes
In this interactive session you'll experience how these dynamics play out and how you can leverage this paradox to coach "the person" rather than only the issue.
