Atlanta REALTORS Center, 5784 Lake Forrest Drive , Atlanta, Georgia, 30328, United States.

Time marches on and so shall we through this fascinating exploration of American house styles – the evolution of which is much more detailed than you might guess. In addition to reviewing some of the design and decorative elements that define each style, we’ll look at the historical context to give you a sense of why the styles evolved. We’ll conclude with a look at modern-day houses and the challenges their style, or lack thereof, present to real estate professionals. Properly identifying a style gives a house a pedigree, a lineage, with a back story you can tell to create interest and focus on the value of the property. This comprehensive review will prepare you to identify, characterize and place homes into context for your clients.

This course is an expanded version of our "What (Even Veteran) Agents Need to Know About the MLS Fields" review of architectural styles. It's intended to give us another chance to review and discuss styles so you have more rehearsal and retention of the material.

Ryan Taylor founded Ryan Taylor Architects, LLC (RTA) in 2002. We provide services for residential projects (renovations, additions + new construction) with a focus on health, comfort and efficiency. We also provide consulting services for zoning, building code compliance, permitting and other jurisdictional challenges. RTA’s work includes projects in the United States, the Caribbean and Africa. RTA became a real estate school and began offering our own education events for real estate professionals in 2019. Offering our own events rather than presenting topics for others allows us to develop courses based on your guidance – we get direct input from you though questions, evaluations, surveys and offline discussions. (Got an idea for a course? Let us know!)
