Walton Street Park and Pool: a Case Study on the Landmark Designation Process

The Walton Street Park and Pool, which opened in 1939, was recently designated as a local historic landmark. This distinction will help to preserve the park's legacy, as well as update it, so it can remain a beacon for the community it serves. City of Asheville Urban Planner, Alex Cole, and Josi Ward, the author of the Landmark Designation Report will join us to discuss what it means to have a landmark designation, and how to get it. They will use the important history of the Walton Street Park and Pool as a backdrop for the disussion, highlighting the process the park has gone through, and what it all means for the future.
