When: The six-week course will be held on Thursdays from Oct. 10 through Nov. 14, 2024 from 6 PM to 8:30 PM (except there will be a class on Wednesday, Oct. 30, and no class on Thursday, Oct. 31 to avoid disruptions--passing out candy, doorbell ringing, taking children trick-o-treating, etc.).
Where: Online via Zoom, except there will be two in-person events (not mandatory for those residing outside of the SF Bay Area). There will be a mid-class meetup on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024 (location TBD) (Daytime) and an end of class celebration on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024 (location TBD) (Daytime).
What: The course will ground participants in value-based leadership, guided by knowledge of the AAPI community and California law, and taught with case study discussions so participants may apply what they learn each week to real world scenarios. The subjects covered include nonprofit governance, strategic planning, financials, committee structure, risk management, organizational documents, executive evaluation, and board relationships.
Who: This course is designed for executives, veteran professionals, program managers, elected and appointed officials, or equivalent, as well as current nonprofit board members desiring to gain more expertise. We are seeking a mix of well-qualified participants who currently sit on a board or those who are interested in joining nonprofit boards for the first time within 18 months.
The 2024 BLA successful applicant non-refundable program fee is:
$350 for individuals paying for their own participation.
$700 for sponsoring organizations/employers (per participant).
Successful applicants who are not sponsored by their organization/employer may request a $100 discount if their annual income falls below $78,500.
