Speaker Mike Lombardo:

Leadership on Firefrom the Probie to the Chief

The basic unit in the fire service is not the firefighter but rather it's the fire company. The people who make up that unit and those in charge of that unit, the company officer, are vital at the fire scene as well as in the firehouse.  This class will help firefighters, company officers and aspiring company officers be prepared for the challenges they face. It will also help prepare you for higher level Command positions both on the fire-ground and in your department.

Topics to be discussed will include being the new (positive impact) firefighter, how to prepare for that big leap to company officer, regardless your route to promotion in a career department or in a volunteer unit you need to be ready.  What to expect when you take command how you can transition from being the new officer to training your company and having ownership of the unit.   Finally, and why we are all here, how to operate aggressively, effectively, and safely on the fire ground.

Speaker Bob Pressler:

 Truck Company Operations

The primary function of all Fire Departments is the protection of life and property. The Engine company is tasked with putting water on the fire while the Truck company, or Firefighters assigned to perform Truck work, are responsible for the saving of lives. Ladder company functions on the fire ground include everything except for the stretching and operating of the first hand line. These fire ground tasks include search and rescue, forcible entry, ventilation, laddering and overhaul. This class will deal with all the aspects of truck companies, from training to application, using an “Inside/Outside” game plan to get maximum efficiency from ladder company personnel.
