Join cousins Saba and Titi in a joyful celebration of Ethiopian culture through food, music, and more! This dynamic duo has been dreaming of serving up delicious Ethiopian food in Yellow Springs, showing off the colors, flavors, and uniqueness of this cuisine. They have a phenomenal menu prepared for the lucky 30 who will join us for the event, a spread of injera (flatbread made from fermented teff) and dabo (Ethiopian yeasted bread) with 9 dishes (described below). The night will include their selection of Ethiopian music, wine pairings selected by the Emporium, and a traditional coffee ceremony at the end. We can't wait for you to join us!

Yemisrach "Titi" Mekonnen was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and for a majority of her career life, served as an engineer in the Dayton area. Saba Kassaye, born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and local to Yellow Springs, served as a mathematics educator for over 30 years in our Dayton/Xenia community high schools. In Ethiopian culture, cooking for others and sharing food with your community is customary. Both chefs are looking forward to cooking for our community and sharing their love for traditional Ethiopian cuisine and culture.

Injera and dabo will be served with:

1. Shiro Wot: curry made from ground chickpea flour

2. Misir Wot: red lentil curry

3. Gomen: spinach dish

4. Tikil Gomen: cabbage dish with carrots

5. Kik Alicha Wot: yellow split pea curry

6. Fasolia: green beans and carrots

7. Tomato Fitfit: injera with tomato, red onions, and jalapeno peppers

8. Azifa: brown lentils with jalapeno, red onions, garlic, and lemon

9. Ethiopian salad: lettuce, tomato, red onion, lemon, and garlic
