The Space I Take: A Journey Through Song

Goodie & Friends return to the Jeanne Rimsky Theater at Landmark on Main Street with The Space I Take, an Afternoon T.E.A. cabaret celebrating music, connection, and the courage to be seen.

Built on the enduring onstage friendship of Beth Goodrich, Maggie D., and Stu Watarz, this beloved production weaves harmony, nostalgia, and joy through decades of shared musical history. The celebration deepens as Emilie Goodrich joins her grandmother, Beth, onstage, with Adam Goodrich on drums—making the afternoon a heartfelt, multigenerational family affair.

This show is about the space we take—
in our families, friendships, and in the world.
Some of us are learning how to ask for it.
Some of us know how to claim it.

Warm, funny, and deeply human, The Space I Take is an invitation to listen, feel, and belong.

Reserve your tickets now for an unforgettable afternoon of song.

Bios:

Emilie Goodrich: Emilie Goodrich is a NYC-based actress who loves a lox bagel with cream cheese. Training includes the University of Michigan’s department of theatre & drama, and The Barrow Group’s Professional Acting Conservatory. Recent credits include: “Something Rotten (Portia) @ Actors Conservatory Theatre, West End’s Workshop of “Mad Hatter” (Bailey), “Pinkalicious” (Pinkalicious) @ John W. Engeman Theatre at Northport, “Gossip Girl”, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”, “The 25th Annual Putnam…” (Olive), “Seussical” (Mayzie la Bird), and TYA tours of “James and the Giant Peach” (Ladybug) and “Madagascar: A Musical Adventure” (Gloria). Emilie is a proud actor with Tourette’s Syndrome and OCD. She’s passionate about equitable theatre education and community outreach. As an advocate, she has volunteered for Tourette Association of America, Michigan Performance Outreach Workshop, correctional facilities across Michigan and worked for the Princess Grace Foundation-USA — a non profit supporting emerging artists. She loves her Grandma Beth VERY dearly and loves to see her have fun on stage. www.itsemiliegoodrich.com | @itsemiliegoodrich

Beth Goodrich: Beth holds her BM in Music Education from NYU, and her Master's in Educational Theatre from Adelphi University. She’s taught for 20+ years in public schools as a chorus and general music teacher. Simultaneously, she ran the after school theatrical programing where I directed multiple musical theatre productions for Jr. High and High Schoolers. Following that, she became an adjunct instructor at Five Towns College where she taught chorus, sight singing, piano, ear training, and instructed the private vocal lessons. Many years later, Beth retired from teaching publicly and transitioned to adult theatre education. She found my passion in teaching adult cabaret after she saw many of my adult students truly come to life through music. She always says, "Your moment is now, life is not a dress rehearsal". She comes from a diverse performing background as well. Her one woman cabarets were a hit at Don't Tell Mama in NYC, titled "To Life and Love", and "I'm Still Here". You’ll catch her in Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut “Ellen Waits” and the Television show starring Mandy Patinkin and Patti LuPone “The Artist”. Off Broadway, she played a leading role in "The Golden Apple" at The York Playhouse. Regionally I've performed in "Company" (Joanne), "The Music Man" (Mayor's Wife), "Annie Get Your Gun", "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes", "West Side Story", and "Once Upon a Mattress". Lastly, she directed "Dreamgirls", "The Best of Broadway Review", "Oklahoma", and "The Boyfriend". When I'm not behind the piano or performing, you'll find me traveling the world —anything by the beach— or with my grandchildren. They are the most important to me!

Stu Waters: Stu is an accomplished pianist and vocalist, classically trained in piano at the Juilliard Prep School. Stuart started performing professionally at age 13 when he became involved in jazz and blues. At age 15, he was featured as a rising star on WQXR Radio’s “Young America Plays”. He has performed throughout the United States, and his performance and studio credits include projects with Joe Carbone, Joe Carter, Paula Atherton, Earl Williams, Walter Perkins, James Cammack, Chasey Dean and more.

Maggie Dee is a professional singer who has performed extensively in the New York area.

Adam Goodrich is a professional drummer, Emilie’s father, Beth’s son, and the world’s biggest University of Michigan fan. Go blue!
