Determination, Perseverance, Tough, Strong, Unbreakable, Undeniable, Arise, & Leaped. These are all trigger words that describe A’yua Kamau, born Lakeisha Hamilton. A’yua Kamau (Lakeisha Hamilton) was born in Rome, Ga on November 1, 1978. She is the youngest of her mother two daughters and the fourth out of her father nine kids. Now a resident of Kennesaw Ga. Early on in her childhood A’yua, had to fight for her life mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Both A’yua and her sister were raised by their grandmother due to their mother's drug addiction. With an unemployed, zero income status, the girl’s mother developed a heavy drug addiction which caused her mother to turn to her young daughters to make the unthinkable sacrifice, to support her heavy drug addiction. Seeking a way out of no way, their only hope was to look to God within when it appeared to be no God to be seen without, so the battle began. They learn early on, how to go within themselves to find answers, turning to family members for the most part was no options. Although many battles were relying on human wisdom, the girls suffered abuse from their mother and father and the abuse continued throughout their adulthood from their significant others. She moved to Marietta in January 2002 when she was pregnant with her third child, in hopes of making a difference in her life as well as her three children.
