Many young people are watching the Netflix series,13 Reasons Why. This series revolves around a 17 year old who has died by suicide and left behind audio recordings for the 13 people who she says contributed to her taking her own life. Many of our students are watching it, it is a trending topic on social media, and students are coming to schools talking about it.
For further discussion about the show’s impact, join us on Thursday May, 25th at 6:30pm at the Carol S. Parham Building.
Topics will include
Teen Mental Health
Accessing Resources
Getting help
Crisis response
While we do not recommend that all students view this series, it can be appreciated as an opportunity to better understand young people’s experiences, thoughts, and feelings.
