A Comprehensive Approach to Time-Keeping and Rhythm 2

This 6-week program is appropriate for instrumentalists (concert and jazz) and choristers at all levels. It is intended to follow the first time-keeping and rhythm course as a continuation OR as a starting point for participants who feel they are ready for a more advanced approach. Topics will include a review of fundamentals from session 1, advanced subdivision skills and a more advanced application of vocalizing and performing more complex rhythms.

The format will be “Masterclass” based. Participants will be encouraged to demonstrate individually so that positive reinforcement can be offered to each individual enhance their own understanding and performance, regardless of level of experience.  The pace and full scope of topics will be based on the mastery of concepts by participants.

Prerequisite – Participants in this session must have completed either session 1 OR participated in the summer rhythm class OR agree to participate an additional 1 hour session with instructor, Kevin Willms, in advance of the course. This session would be free and will cover the philosophical approach utilized in the course along with certain technical aspects of the approach we will take in order to ensure an effective and efficient use of all participants’ time.
