8th Annual Experience, Strength & Hope Awards

Hosted by Ed Begley Jr. the show will feature actor and author DeJuan “DJ” Verrett (“Sons of Anarchy”) kicking off the show with a spoken word performance. HBO favorite Sarge, will entertain the audience with his power comedy routine. As well, there will be a musical appearance by Sherri Lewis (performer and consultant for UCLA AIDS Institute). Theevent will also include catered cuisine and 90-minute social soiree. TheExperience, Strength and Hope Award is given in recognition of an individual’s honest life’s memoir including their journey through addiction to recovery. This year’s honoree is author and TV personality Pat O’Brienfor his all-tell book ‘I’ll Be Right Back After This.’

Founded by Leonard Buschel, Writers in Treatment offers free referral services to individuals seeking treatment for addiction issues. The Organization also produces the REEL Recovery Film Festival & Symposium, a multi-day event that showcases honest films about addiction, alcoholism, behavioral disorders, treatment and recovery. Proceeds will benefit Writers in Treatment’s and the REEL Recovery Film Festival & Symposium.
