Bentley's OpenX Civil products incorporate a series of tools purpose built for the design, modeling and analysis of drainage systems directly into the broader "Open" design framework. This workshop will expose users to the tools needed to first lay out and model an urban storm drainage system and subsequently prepare that same model for analysis. In this process, users will place inlets, manholes, end sections and conduits. Learn the tools available to facilitate catchment delineation and configuration. And finally, perform analytical computations on the drainage network to begin design optimization. (Note: This workshop will focus on the modeling and analysis tools in OpenRoads Designer and does not address the principles of drainage design. Users should have an understanding of hydraulic design principles and working knowledge of ORD's general design tools and workflows.)

This session provides a comprehensive, hands-on walkthrough of modeling both an existing bridge structure and its staged replacement using OpenBridge Modeler. Designed for users involved in rehabilitation, replacement, or phased construction projects, this course focuses on practical workflows that reflect real-world delivery scenarios.

Participants will begin by developing an accurate model of an existing bridge, capturing key geometry and structural components. Building on this foundation, the course will guide users through the creation of a replacement structure modeled in multiple construction stages. Attendees will learn how to effectively manage staged construction, including representing intermediate conditions and assembling a complete final bridge model.

By the end of the session, users will understand how to use the NCDOT Workspace Standards to:

This session provides an overview of the Photogrammetry Unit and the work we perform. We will begin with core photogrammetry fundamentals, including key definitions and concepts that underpin our operations. Next, we will review our current workflows, such as Shell Plan Sheet Mapping, construction volume acquisition using manned and unmanned aircraft, and a variety of specialty projects including B‑2500 coastal monitoring, Fairgrounds imagery, and SAV. Finally, we will explore the latest innovations influencing the photogrammetry field—lidargrammetry, advanced data and feature manipulation, modeling and extraction techniques, and our recent contributions to the Helene response.

This session will focus on the steps an organization or agency can take to align 3D deliverable expectations and model quality with traditional plan-centric QA/QC procedures.

We will share our approach of evaluating plan requirements for design phase submittal and aligning them with model development. This effort for developing Phase Deliverable Guidelines involved a committee of associates from design, project management, and technology to understand the needs of both the project deliverables as well as key milestones within the model development process that would streamline design workflows.

This process focuses on elevating the model as the single source of truth and shifting the mentality of ownership of the model, along with the adoption of 3D asset certification processes for non-CADD users.

The foundation of this presentation is software agnostic but will highlight the value that tools such as Bentley Infrastructure Cloud and Autodesk Construction Cloud bring to advancing these objectives.

This course teaches tools and techniques that can be used to lay out an intersection. It will focus on the Horizontal and Vertical Geometry tools to create 2D and 3D geometric elements. By registering for this workshop, you will be designing an intersection that includes turn lanes, median islands and turn lane islands. 2D horizontal geometry will be created using the Horizontal Geometry tools and Profiles and 3D elements will be created using the Vertical Geometry tools. The objective is to create a terrain model of the proposed pavement surface and analyze the proposed drainage contours. Beginner difficulty.

This session focuses on the complete plan production workflow for a bridge replacement project using OpenBridge Modeler, with an emphasis on delivering construction-ready sheets that align with DOT standards. The course is designed for users responsible for translating 3D bridge models into clear, accurate, and standards-compliant contract documents.

Participants will be guided through the process of generating plan sheets directly from bridge models, including the creation of a General Plan and Elevation sheet as well as detailed substructure and superstructure sheets. The training will demonstrate how model-driven workflows support efficient drawing generation, including automated updates from the 3D model to 2D deliverables.

Using NCDOT standards as the framework, attendees will learn how to organize drawings, apply annotations, and produce sheet layouts that meet agency requirements and expectations.

The last 20 years has seen a rapid expansion in the use of roundabouts as a viable tool to address both operational and safety concerns on our roadways. This workshop explores how to model these intersections in OpenRoad's Designer using a workflow that seeks to strike a balance between the perfect dynamic model and the required modeling effort. The primary focus will be modeling a roundabout in the vertical beginning with the general horizontal design determined. (Note: This workshop will focus on the modeling effort for roundabouts in OpenRoads Designer and does not address the principles of roundabout design. Users should have a strong working knowledge of ORDs geometry tools.)
