The Exercise Science program, housed in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services (CECH) at the University of Cincinnati, prepares students for careers in fields such as strength and conditioning, fitness center management, wellness programming, cardiac rehabilitation and clinical exercise physiology, personal training, entrepreneurship, and more. Many students also go on to pursue graduate research or clinical pathways. The program offers a B.S. in Exercise Science, a M.S. in Exercise and Sport Science, a M.S. in Health & Wellness Management, undergraduate certificates in Sport Coaching and Yoga Studies, and a graduate certificate in Health and Wellness Coaching. The program is affiliated with the registered student organization, Bearcats Exercise Science Alliance (BESA) that leads professional development events, travel to conferences, and more.

    Mary Wineberg, Olympic Gold Medalist/Author/Speaker/Educator/Entrepreneur Winning an Olympic gold medal in Beijing, China with the 2008 U.S. Women’s Track and Field team in the 4 x 400-meter relay was the culmination of years of extraordinary challenges, dedication and accomplishments for Mary Wineberg. Once an Olympian, Always an Olympian, Never Former, Never Past. That triumph opened the way for her new calling as a passionate champion in education, advocate for literacy and physical movement, personal motivator, founder of Secure Your Gold, and an enthusiastic leader. Her story of overcoming tremendous hardships and long odds early in life to reach the pinnacle in her sport has connected thousands through her public speaking and community engagements. Mary serves on several boards and is active in many organizations. Mary taught 2nd grade for over 10 years, enjoyed the profession and when she left the field, she knew she would stay involved, thus starting RISE UP and MOVE initiatives within her business. Mary has published two books, one an autobiography called “Unwavering Perseverance an Olympic Gold Medalist Finds Peace”, and her recent children’s book “I Didn’t Win.” Mary resides in Cincinnati, Ohio with her husband and two daughters. She hopes to leave all feeling inspired and knowing that no matter what, you can Overcome Challenges and Secure Your Gold!

                                              Patrick is a Cincinnati native who started out his athletic career at Hamilton Badin High School. He was awarded the number two quarterback ranking in the state, locking in the number ten spot in the country, which opened many doors on the next level. decided to stay home and attended the University Of Cincinnati playing Quarterback and winning two Big East Championships. Due to a coaching and position change, he transferred. was plagued with a number of injuries which included another serious concussion that would end up being the final factor in his decision to close out his football career. 

                                              After realizing he could no longer play the game he loved, immediately started helping players of all levels reach their fullest potential. This is where Black Sheep Performance came to life. While injuries did play a big role in ending his career, he noticed that what he did off the field played just as big of a role as what he did on it.
