Cancellation policy

Cancellation Policy for Hope Squad National Advisor Conference - June 2025

We understand that plans can change. Please review our cancellation policy below:

  1. Cancellation Requests:

    • All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email to support@hopesquad.com.
    • Please include your full name, registration confirmation number, and reason for cancellation.
  2. Refund Schedule:

    • Up to 90 days before the event: Full refund minus a $50 administrative fee.
    • Less than 89 days before the event: No refunds will be issued.
  3. Transfer of Registration:

    • If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your registration to another individual at no additional cost. Please notify us in writing at least 7 days before the event with the new attendee's details.
  4. Event Cancellation:

    • In the unlikely event that the conference is canceled by Hope Squad, all registrants will receive a full refund. Hope Squad is not responsible for travel or accommodation costs.
  5. Force Majeure:

    • Hope Squad is not liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations if such failure or delay is due to causes beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, war, strikes, or government regulations.

Nikki brings over 26 years of experience in education, having served as a teacher, school counselor, and family support specialist. Her commitment to student well-being led her to serve as a Hope Squad Advisor before officially joining the Hope Squad organization in January 2024. In her current role in Customer Experience, Nikki has the opportunity to support Advisors and customers as they navigate launching and sustaining their Hope Squads. She also plays a key role in supporting the Certifed Hope Squad Advisor Training.

A dedicated mental health advocate, Nikki is a certified Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor, QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer,) Certified Instructor, and a Grief Recovery Specialist. She is currently pursuing licensure as a professional counselor (LPC-A) and gaining hands on experience under supervision in private practice. Nikki is deeply passionate about mental wellness and is committed to empowering others through education, support, and compassionate care.

Cathy Bledsoe graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She worked as a prevention specialist with Provo City School District for seventeen years and was instrumental in implementing district prevention programs, which addressed suicide, school safety, and bullying. While working at Provo City School District, she created bully prevention training for students and teachers, organized a county-wide suicide prevention task force, facilitated annual suicide prevention conferences, and assisted in creating the school-based program Hope Squad. 

She is currently the assistant director of Hope4Utah, a nonprofit suicide prevention organization, and is responsible for training and supporting Hope Squads throughout Utah.

Matthew Hatch is a research intern at Hope Squad. His commitment to youth suicide prevention began in high school through his involvement in Hope Squad, when he served during his junior and senior years. He went on to study neuroscience at Brigham Young University, contributing to research on the relationship between gut microbiota and autism. At Hope Squad, Matthew supports data-driven program evaluation, collaborative research projects and pilot program efforts. He is currently applying to medical school with plans to specialize in pediatrics where he hopes to continue promoting peer-to-peer approaches to suicide prevention.

As an elementary school teacher, Dr. Ferguson began her career with Prosper ISD in 1998. She has since served as a campus principal, executive director of curriculum and instruction, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, and associate superintendent. She has served Prosper ISD as the superintendent since July 2020. 

After receiving a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary sudies and a master's degree in educational administration from the University of North Texas, Dr. Ferguson completed her doctorate in educational leadership at Texas A&M Commerce. She also worked for Frisco ISD as a teacher, ESL cluster teacher, reading interventionist, and assistant principal. 

Dr. Ferguson has been recognized as a standout leader in education, earning the prestigious 2022 Superintendent of the Year award from the Texas Education Technology Leaders. Beyond her administrative achievements, she is deeply committed to student welfare, serving on the National Hope Squad Board, which champions mental health awareness and suicide prevention. Her education philosophy is rooted in a fundamental belief that every student deserves access to a high quality education that can open the doors and windows to endless possibilities.

Under Dr. Ferguson's visionary leadership, Prosper ISD has emerged as a beacon of educational excellence, recently named a 2024 Top Workplace Industry Winner in Dallas-Fort Worth and an H-E-B Excellence in Education Award Finalist. Her tenure has been marked by extraordinary growth, with the district expanding from approximately 19,000 to over 32,000 students, establishing itself as one of Texas' most dynamically developing school systems. Embodying the district's core principle of "Excellence Every Day Every Way," Dr. Ferguson has consistently driven continuous improvement, transforming Prosper ISD into a model of educational innovation and student-centered leadership.

Dr. Scott Poland is a Professor at the College of Psychology and the Director of the Suicide and Violence Prevention Office for NSU Florida in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He is a licensed psychologist and an internationally recognized expert on school safety, youth suicide, and school crisis prevention/intervention. He has authored or co-authored seven books and many chapters and articles on these subjects. He previously directed psychological services for Cypress-Fairbanks ISD in Texas for 24 years and is dedicated to prevention and has testified about the mental health needs of children before the U.S. Congress on four occasions. He has developed statewide suicide prevention toolkits for Texas, Montana and Florida and is currently working on ones for New Jersey and Maryland. He was a founding member of the National Emergency Assistance Team and has personally assisted school communities after many tragedies including school shootings, acts of terrorism, natural disasters and youth suicide point clusters. He has received many awards including being named the most outstanding psychologist in Texas. Dr. Poland also has received the NASP Crisis Award, the Houston Wage Peace Award, the Parkland Helping the Community Heal Award and the APA Division 16 Distinguished Career Award.

Staci Cornwell is the Mental Health Coordinator for Mead School District in Washington. She is the chair of the Prevent Suicide Coalition of Spokane, and owner of STACIA LLC Specialized Training and Consultation. Staci is an author, LMHC, CMHS, and GMHS. Staci is a top suicide expert with over 25 years of experience in suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention and a QPR, CALM, and WA State Certified Suicide Prevention Trainer. Staci is currently focusing her efforts on sharing upstream approaches such as building connection and resilience as primary suicide prevention strategies, all with the intent of helping others effectively manage stressors life may bring and to move through dark times safely.

She began her career as a case manager in a facility for adults with special needs. After the birth of her second child, she returned to college to earn a master's in teaching, learning, and leadership from Oklahoma State University. She then began teaching special education at Perkins-Tyron High School in Perkins, Oklahoma. Last year, she was honored to be chosen as the High School Teacher of the Year. 

Now, with 19 years of teaching experience, Sarah serves as a sophomore English teacher, yearbook advisor, and Hope Squad Advisor. With deep roots in Perkins-Tyron High School, she values every student who enters her classroom and her life. Hope Squad allows Sarah to advocate for mental health education, a passion she has held for as long as she can remember. In her third year of advising Hope Squad, she witnessed its transformative impact, helping students approach mental health in themselves, their peers, and the community with empathy and understanding. Hope Squad's influence extends beyond individual students, impacting the entire school district. Sarah believes Hope Squad is a life changing program and is honored to lead it. She has served at the Texas Education Agency on the mental and behavioral health team and now supports school mental health at the regional level at the South Southwest MHTTC at the University of Texas Austin. She is the owner and CEO of Be Well, Lead Well LLC and lives by the motto “You can’t pour from an empty cup” aspiring to promote self-preservation and self compassion in all areas of her life.                       Staci Cornwell is the Mental Health Coordinator for Mead School District in Washington. She is the chair of the Prevent Suicide Coalition of Spokane, and owner of STACIA LLC Specialized Training and Consultation. Staci is an author, LMHC, CMHS, and GMHS. Staci is a top suicide expert with over 25 years of experience in suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention and a QPR, CALM, and WA State Certified Suicide Prevention Trainer. Staci is currently focusing her efforts on sharing upstream approaches such as building connection and resilience as primary suicide prevention strategies, all with the intent of helping others effectively manage stressors life may bring and to move through dark times safely.

                          Sarah Jackson holds an undergraduate degree in family relations and child development from Oklahoma State University, awarded in May 2001. She began her career as a case manager in a facility for adults with special needs. After the birth of her second child, she returned to college to earn a master's in teaching, learning, and leadership from Oklahoma State University. She then began teaching special education at Perkins-Tyron High School in Perkins, Oklahoma. Last year, she was honored to be chosen as the High School Teacher of the Year. 

                          Now, with 19 years of teaching experience, Sarah serves as a sophomore English teacher, yearbook advisor, and Hope Squad Advisor. With deep roots in Perkins-Tyron High School, she values every student who enters her classroom and her life. Hope Squad allows Sarah to advocate for mental health education, a passion she has held for as long as she can remember. In her third year of advising Hope Squad, she witnessed its transformative impact, helping students approach mental health in themselves, their peers, and the community with empathy and understanding. Hope Squad's influence extends beyond individual students, impacting the entire school district. Sarah believes Hope Squad is a life changing program and is honored to lead it. She hopes to see it implemented in every school.

                              Dr. Natalie Fikac is a mental health professional and educator with over 29 years of educational experience. Her educational experience began as an elementary school teacher, reading interventionist, Professional School Counselor at both the elementary and secondary level, campus administrator and district level administrator. She has served at the Texas Education Agency on the mental and behavioral health team and now supports school mental health at the regional level at the South Southwest MHTTC at the University of Texas Austin. She is the owner and CEO of Be Well, Lead Well LLC and lives by the motto “You can’t pour from an empty cup” aspiring to promote self-preservation and self compassion in all areas of her life. She is passionate about growing leaders as a Certified Dare to Lead ™ Trainer trained by Dr. Brené Brown, is certified to teach SMART (Stress Management & Resiliency Training), and is a Mindful Self Compassion Teacher. Her hope is to be able to educate and advocate on behalf of professional educators, students and families in the areas of mental and behavioral health, social-emotional needs and overall wellness and resiliency.

                                      As an elementary school teacher, Dr. Ferguson began her career with Prosper ISD in 1998. She has since served as a campus principal, executive director of curriculum and instruction, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, and associate superintendent. She has served Prosper ISD as the superintendent since July 2020. 

                                      After receiving a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary sudies and a master's degree in educational administration from the University of North Texas, Dr. Ferguson completed her doctorate in educational leadership at Texas A&M Commerce. She also worked for Frisco ISD as a teacher, ESL cluster teacher, reading interventionist, and assistant principal. 

                                      Dr. Ferguson has been recognized as a standout leader in education, earning the prestigious 2022 Superintendent of the Year award from the Texas Education Technology Leaders. Beyond her administrative achievements, she is deeply committed to student welfare, serving on the National Hope Squad Board, which champions mental health awareness and suicide prevention. Her education philosophy is rooted in a fundamental belief that every student deserves access to a high quality education that can open the doors and windows to endless possibilities.

                                      Under Dr. Ferguson's visionary leadership, Prosper ISD has emerged as a beacon of educational excellence, recently named a 2024 Top Workplace Industry Winner in Dallas-Fort Worth and an H-E-B Excellence in Education Award Finalist.                                         Cathy Bledsoe graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She worked as a prevention specialist with Provo City School District for seventeen years and was instrumental in implementing district prevention programs, which addressed suicide, school safety, and bullying. While working at Provo City School District, she created bully prevention training for students and teachers, organized a county-wide suicide prevention task force, facilitated annual suicide prevention conferences, and assisted in creating the school-based program Hope Squad. 

                                        She is currently the assistant director of Hope4Utah, a nonprofit suicide prevention organization, and is responsible for training and supporting Hope Squads throughout Utah.

                                                Nikki brings over 26 years of experience in education, having served as a teacher, school counselor, and family support specialist. Her commitment to student well-being led her to serve as a Hope Squad Advisor before officially joining the Hope Squad organization in January 2024. In her current role in Customer Experience, Nikki has the opportunity to support Advisors and customers as they navigate launching and sustaining their Hope Squads. She also plays a key role in supporting the Certifed Hope Squad Advisor Training.

                                                A dedicated mental health advocate, Nikki is a certified Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor, QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer,) Certified Instructor, and a Grief Recovery Specialist. She is currently pursuing licensure as a professional counselor (LPC-A) and gaining hands on experience under supervision in private practice. Nikki is deeply passionate about mental wellness and is committed to empowering others through education, support, and compassionate care.

                                                      Matthew Hatch
                                                      Research InternHope Squad

                                                      Matthew Hatch is a research intern at Hope Squad. His commitment to youth suicide prevention began in high school through his involvement in Hope Squad, when he served during his junior and senior years. He went on to study neuroscience at Brigham Young University, contributing to research on the relationship between gut microbiota and autism. At Hope Squad, Matthew supports data-driven program evaluation, collaborative research projects and pilot program efforts. He is currently applying to medical school with plans to specialize in pediatrics where he hopes to continue promoting peer-to-peer approaches to suicide prevention.
