This August we are bringing the Starlight Film Festival to the heart of Guildford. Join us for 3 days of music, bbqs and outdoor cinema magic at Allen House Grounds with some of the greatest films known to man! There is something for everyone. Spaces are limited so book your tickets ASAP via www.venturecinema.co.uk.

Join us for an open air screening of the 1987 cult classic Withnail and I, now on 6th August at Allen House Grounds, Guildford. Bring your blankets and hampers, and get ready for a night of psychedelic fun and endlessly quotable British humor.

The night will kick of at 7.30 with live music, locally sourced food and drink. The screening will start at 8.45. Naturally, drinks will be available throughout the evening.

London. The 1960s. Two unemployed actors—acerbic, elegantly wasted Withnail (Richard E. Grant) and the anxiety-ridden “I” (Paul McGann)—drown their frustrations in booze, pills, and lighter fluid. When Withnail’s Uncle Monty (Richard Griffiths) offers his cottage, they escape the squalor of their flat for a week in the country. They soon realize they’ve gone on holiday by mistake when their wits—and friendship—are sorely tested by violent downpours, less than hospitable locals, and empty cupboards.

Fairytale princesses marry heroic princes in medieval castles. Ancient vampires stalks their prey in vaulted undercrofts. A young girl falls down the rabbit hole among the trees of a shady woodland. An illicit affair begins over a candlelit dinner in a lavish restaurant. Venture Cinema is an independent community cinema project running across the UK. We work with unique venues such as museums, galleries, parklands and heritage foundations among others to screen the perfect film to bring both the space and the story to life. We aim to create a national community and unite local groups of film lovers, host fantastic events that inspire passion and feed the imagination, and bring independent cinema to all corners of the UK, especially under served areas.
