P6 Professional Growth & Responsibility 12 hours

SUD & Recovery Knowledge C1

This is a TWO DAY training.

You must attend BOTH days for credit.

5/28/26 AND 5/29/26.

The workshop has been approved for RCH’s from the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professional Board. CEUs will be applied for and are pending.

This comprehensive two-day workshop offers a deep dive into the historical antecedents of substance use, focusing on alcohol, cocaine, and cannabis, while contextualizing them within the broader history of mind-altering substances in the United States. From a prevention perspective, participants will explore the complex social, cultural, and political forces that have historically driven patterns of drug use and shaped public and institutional responses to addiction. The content covers key historical and modern issues, including the evolving legal status of cannabis—from colonial hemp cultivation to widespread legalization—and a critical examination of the modern opioid and fentanyl crisis, including prescription misuse, the rise of synthetic opioids, and effective harm reduction strategies.
