Room In Our Hearts (RIOH) invites you to tour the homes of Joy Macaoay and Kimberly Bartlett. These Union Beach homes showcase the great work Room In Our Hearts provides their clients. By using recycled, repurposed and refashioned pieces of furniture and home décor, RIOH creates unique and beautiful spaces at no cost to the homeowners. Joy’s original house was so severely damaged by Superstorm Sandy that it had to be demolished. It took over three years of patience and perseverance on her part to secure funds to rebuild. RIOH was emotionally moved by her story and was thrilled to create a space that she can call home and begin the healing process.
Joy’s sister Kim is a widow and mother of four children. Her youngest daughter was just seven years old when Sandy destroyed their family’s home. Kim faced the agonizing decision of separating her children from each other as they struggled to find temporary housing in the months and years after the storm. Finally, after three long years and the help of RIOH and other organizations like The Salvation Army and local businesses like Carpet Value Outlet of Middletown, Kim and her family have a place to call home and a beautifully furnished and decorated living room where they can spend time together.
RIOH works tirelessly to create beautiful rooms for low to moderate income families throughout Monmouth County. Please show your support for Room In Our Hearts and celebrate these beautiful new homes while enjoying homemade chili, assorted cheeses and a glass of wine! You’ll also be able to purchase original RIOH pieces of furniture and home décor that will be displayed throughout the house.
Since there are two houses, it is best to GPS each address. The addresses are 709 8th St and 303 Prospect Ave in Union Beach NJ 07735.
