Although billed as entry level Production Assistant training, Kenny Chaplin's Film Crew Essentials is in fact an excellent overall look at filmmaking on the studio level delivered by an experienced and engaging instructor.  It is useful for everyone interested in entering the business in any position. I highly recommend Kenny Chaplin to provide basic training for emerging filmmakers in any jurisdiction.”

Do you want to work in the entertainment industry?

Are you unsure how to begin?

Have you completed a film degree and are wondering, “Now what?”

Kenny Chaplin's

Beyond the Basics - Film Crew Essentials

may be the answer you have been looking for!

(1st Assistant Director on the set of "Little Glory" - link )

Kenny Chaplin - link brings to you his experience of sixteen years in the trenches of the Hollywood film industry. He has worked hand in hand with directors such as David Mamet, Terrence Malick, Ang Lee, and Ridley Scott. He has had to 'wrangle' the likes of Dustin Hoffman, John Cusak, Woody Harrelson, Sean Penn, Eva Longoria and many more.

With road weary tales from the field to augment the material, you'll learn how to become an unforgettable crew member on any size of production, from multi million dollar films, to photo shoots, commercials, documentaries and even the smallest budgeted student film.

Kenny Chaplin will be in Springfield, MO on November 8 & 9th to share the information he learned to get to the top of Hollywood, so you too can:

Identify the film position that suits you best

Get a career in the film business

Walk onto any film set and know what is expected of you

Understand the culture of film sets and the 'magic' of movie making

"Kenny Chaplin's  presentation is invaluable, dynamic training, not just for Production Assistants, but for anyone interested in a career in the film industry!"

Cynthia Collins – President/CEO of FILM Atlanta Inc.

Kenny Chaplin grew up on the prairies, in a small town far removed from the Hollywood film industry. On a whim, he boarded a plane for Australia in 1997 to seek employment as a Production Assistant on one of the most talked about films of the decade, Terrence Malick's "Thin Red Line". Successfully working six (6) months earned him the confidence and experience to seek out productions requiring a skilled PA. With his ability to pack-up and go, a phone call sent him down the road to Kansas City, Missouri for the filming of Director Ang Lee's (once a PA himself) civil war drama " Ride with the Devil."

Within 10 years he had gained membership into the Director's Guild of America and the Director’s Guild of Canada. He has honed skills on shows such as "Runaway Jury," "Roswell", "Judging Amy", “Dude, Where's My Car?" "End of Days," and the literary classic "Moby Dick" filmed in St. Julian, Malta.

You will meet Kenny Chaplin personally, members of the local film community, receive a free copy of the authors book, and most importantly walk away from the event with the confidence to work onto ANY film, video, commercial set with the confidence of a road weary film veteran.

" I have 15 years in the entertainment business. I took a chance to broaden my skillset & experience to include film. I learned more than I could've imagined at your presentation, Kenny. Since, I have been brought on a number of paid projects. I have been a PA, filled in for a script supervisor on a SAG project, been 2nd AD on a SAG tv pilot, producer and extras casting director (twice).

“Are you SURE you don’t have Southern roots? Your hospitality and kindness go deep in our neck of the woods. From the moment you returned a call to me after an inquiry about the session, I was convinced your training would be worth my time over a weekend. You exceeded expectations. Thank you so much. I am not certain how I fit into the film world but I will seek to find the answer, thanks to you. If you come back here, let me know and my husband Steve & I will have you over for a home cooked DINNER!”
