Walk with Park Ranger Dave Carney and explore the diversity of wildflowers near Blue Heron Coal Mining Camp. Learn about the myths, magic and medicines of our forest. Blue Heron offers a glimpse of what life was like back when the Stearns Company mined coal and logged timber out of what is now the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. Easy/moderate

Event Description

                              The 2014 Wildflower Discovery Weekend will take place in Scenic McCreary  County, exploring the rich wildflower diversity of the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area and the Daniel Boone Nation Forest. During this two day event,   visitors can attend professionally guided tours to explore the area’s  wildflowers, cultural and natural history, ecology, and enjoy indoor seminars.

***Each walk has the day/date before the name of the walk*** Be certain that you are picking the correct day/date for each walk that you want. You may sign up for as many as 4 walks or a single walk. Make note that you will need to allow yourself safe driving time between walks.
