CAREER SUCCESS WORKSHOP - EXPECT THE BEST

Putting Yourself in the Drivers Seat

Degrees are valuable and essential parts in securing your career goals.  But academic achievement is not enough to secure a post-graduation position in a constantly changing workforce.  In addition to college core academic and technical skill requirements employers are seeking candidates who have obtained soft skills from internships and volunteer positions.  Today's workshop teachings will focus on the top four skills employers are looking for: communicaion, critical thinking, collaboration and creativity.

Organizer

Peninsula College Fund (PCF) began in 2005 as the dream of local high school teacher Charles Schmuck, who felt impelled to address the troubling college drop-out rate among local low-income youth. With the help of friends and neighbors, he began offering college scholarships and mentoring to three motivated local students. This grassroots effort has demonstrated remarkable success. Since then, we have expanded to provide four-year college scholarships, one-to-one mentoring, college and career success training, and summer internships to 136 students from nine partner high schools in East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, and Redwood City.
