To raise awareness of the current situation in Ecuador following the devastating earthquake on 16 April, the Anglo Ecuadorian Society is pleased to invite you to a talk by Samira Oulaillah, documentary filmmaker and photo-journalist, who will screen her short film On the Roads of Ecuador.
“The film is simply a tribute to Ecuador through its warm and fascinating inhabitants. Total immersion with local Ecuadorians was one of my most beautiful cultural journeys.”
Many Lives – Different Stories – One Land
In 2013, Samira undertook a solo journey across Ecuador in search of insightful stories from various local communities. Afro-Ecuadorians, Spanish descents, Mestizo and Quechua communities opened up to Samira’s camera to share their inner thoughts on the cultural and social aspects of their country.
This touching and authentic film unveils the cultural wealth of Ecuador through its warm people, proud of their roots and proud to be Ecuadorian. We hope you will be able to join us for a fitting tribute to the communities that have been so adversely affected by the recent earthquake.
The event is free to attend. However, we are asking people who come – and those who cannot make it – to make a donation. Proceeds will go towards charities working with victims of the earthquake.
