GENERAL REGULATIONS

  1. Drive 10mph or less in the pits/campgrounds.  Vehicle speed shall be at a walking pace in congested areas.
  2. Drive legally and considerately while in Brainerd.  The Sheriffs and public are watching.
  3. No personnel may enter a “hot” course without approval from course control.
  4. Burnouts or aggressive driving are prohibited off the track.  Failure to adhere to this rule could result in loss of event entry without refund.
  5. All drivers must attend the drivers meeting – no exceptions.
  6. No glass containers allowed on the track.
  7. At the end of the event make sure all your trash is thrown away and your pit space is clean.  Dumping of fluids or tires is strictly prohibited.  Please help us keep the track clean.

COURSE RULES

  1. All driving is first come first served.  Late arrivals will not be given any special treatment or extra runs.  Don’t miss your run group.
  2. Know the course and drive it properly – failure to do so may result in collisions.
  3. Never drive backwards on the course for any reason (mainly the road course).
  4. If you spin, regain traction and complete the course as quickly as possible.  After the second spin clear the course quickly without drifting to prevent holding up the driver behind you.
  5. Prepare in advance and be 100% ready to go when you are called to the line.  All occupants must have helmets on and seat belts fastened before leaving the start line.
  6. Do not exit the car while on track unless instructed by an official or the car is on fire or rolled over.
  7. If car is found to be leaking fluids the car is required to immediately proceed to the pits, to fix the leak in a manner that will spill the least amount of fluids on the track surface.  The leak must be repaired and the car must be tech inspected again before it can return to the track.
  8. All occupants are required to keep all body parts inside the vehicle while it is moving.
  9. When exiting the course do not drift after the finish line.

PROVING GROUNDS DRIFT TECH REQUIREMENTS

  1. Everyone needs to have the positive terminal on the battery covered. We don't need anything coming into contact and starting some crazy electrical fire. Obviously battery boxes are exempt (provided they are covered). As long as it's well secured and covers the terminal FULLY.
  2. The battery must be secured firmly to the vehicle. Loose batteries will not be allowed on track. Zipties and bungie cords are not acceptable battery tie-downs.
  3. Wrap something absorbent around the power steering reservoir and brake master reservoir. The power steering system is put through tons of abuse when drifting, especially you guys with bigger wheels/tires. The fluid starts to boil and overflow from the reservoir. Catch it with a rag zip tied around the reservoirs or wristbands work really well (jdm Honda ricers got something right). Again, make sure whatever you use is well secured, don't want some p/s fluid soaked rag flying off onto the exhaust manifold and starting fires (which has happened).
  4. Remove EVERYTHING from your interior (we're not talking about panels, just loose objects). I don't care what it is, take it out. Loose change, washers, nuts, bolts, paper, floor mats, everything. No matter how well you think your jdm cupholder holds your cup of water like Takumi, things get easily dislodged when you're on the track.
  5. No fuel, oil, water or brake fluid leaks should be observed when the engine is running or at any time during the event. If you have any oil build up around drivetrain components clean and fix the source of the leak before the event.
  6. Make sure all of your fluids are topped off. All fluids. Engine oil, trans oil, coolant, brake fluid, p/s fluid (low p/s fluid is a good way to accelerate the boil-over), diff oil, etc... I guess you could leave the washer fluid low/empty though. Oh, and make sure you have plenty of gas. When you combine the lateral forces of drifting with a low gas level you run the risk of vapor lock or worst case scenario, the lack of fuel in the pump causes a lean condition and a blown-up motor.
  7. Lug Nuts, all wheel lug nuts must be present, and must engage a minimum of 6 full rotations.  Wheels must be firmly torqued.
  8. Those of you running spacers:  A. Bolt-on spacers: Make sure they are properly torqued. Double check if you have to. B. Plate spacers: You'd better have extended studs. If you are running plate spacers, remove a lug nut so staff can check for an ample amount of thread contact. If you have plate spacers front and rear, remove a lug front and rear. I will have a torque wrench on hand in these cases. If there isn't enough thread, the spacer will be removed. If the wheel doesn't fit without it.... you'll have to borrow some wheels.
  9. All helmets for driver or passenger must be at a minimum DOT rated open or full face style in good condition. Helmets must cover the temples and ears. 'Skull Cap' style motorcycle style helmets are not allowed.  Snell SA, K, or M 95 or newer rated helmets are strongly recommended.  If you bring a helmet to tech inspection that does not meet the safety requirements the one of the tech must hold your helmet for the duration of the event to prevent it from being used.
  10. Make sure your intake is well secured. Those of you that have your intake just flopping around in the engine bay, mount it (or ziptie it) to something.
  11. Seat belts and/or harnesses must be fastened and tightened. All helmets will be strapped on, no dangling chin straps. These will be checked by the starter. Please take it seriously, we don't need anyone's helmet flying off in the event of an accident.
  12. Windshield must not have any damage impairing vision or cracks covering more than 25% of the window in any direction.
  13. Cooling System Catch Cans are required and must be securely fastened.  Must not be made of glass or other unsafe material.
  14. Brake Lights must be functional.
  15. Fire Extinguisher, a small automotive fire extinguisher is highly suggested to be securely fastened within reach of the driver without undoing his/her harness/seatbelt. Please take the time to purchase one, $20 spent now can save you from losing years of building to a fire in just a few minutes.
  16. Ride Along Passengers Equipment Requirements, if any of the occupant safety equipment does conform to the rules on the passenger side the vehicle is not allowed to take ride along passengers. Tech officials are required to place an "X" mark on the passenger side of the windshield that must remain in place for the duration of the event to alert course workers that passengers are not allowed. Modifying or tampering with the mark to circumvent passenger restriction is punishable by ejection from the event without refund.
  17. Wheel Bearings and Suspension shall be in good operating condition and have no play.
  18. Body panels such as bumpers and side skirts must be solidly attached or removed. If a body panel comes lose during a run it must either be re-attached or removed before taking another run.

There has been some leniency in the past with these issues, no more. Any vehicles in violation of any of the rules/regulations will not be allowed on track. Any problems must be fixed and re-inspected or the vehicle will not partake in the event.

TANDEM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Cage with door bars for tandem (minimum 4pt)
  2. Advance Driver Status or Approval from Staff.
  3. Approval by Tandem Partner (this is very important)
