Do you love talking about food? We do! Come talk about the food we eat today and the food traditions of the past at the Stevens Crawford Heritage House! Enjoy tasty treats, learn new recipes, and find out more about the meals you know and love from days gone by!

For our flagship event, Nan Hege will talk with participants about canning, a food preservation technique that was developed by the French in 1795. Canning played a vital role in the development of the Western United States, as it helped provide food security to Western newcomers. Samples of jellies and jams canned using a variety of methods will be offered as well!

The event is free of charge, however, CCHS is asking attendees to consider bring canned food items that that will be donated by CCHS to the Oregon Food Bank.
